Back in May, Yale Street Commons, that 15-unit condominium complex at Yale Street and Springfield Avenue, held its first open house and salesman John Walsh gave us a tour of one of the model units.
With construction almost complete, the $300,000-plus buys were getting in selling shape, although
few if any had been sold, Walsh said. He said move-ins were expected by August, a bit beyond original predictions,
but not a surprise in this market. The models looked roomy and sunny and with the Township Committee recently approving a
plan to lease out public lot parking space, such as that behind this project, they seem even more attractive.
The building will also have two commercial tenats for retail spaces below, as yet undetermined.
All of it seems better than that former gas station site that sat for years there or the proposed KFC that many of us rallied
against years go.
But months later, things don't seem much better. A sign in the window says $5,000 in givebacks are possible. Across the street,
the former Bumper to Bumper site has just a sign saying condos are coming. Nothing else.
