Mary Rose Caulfield-Sloan is resigning as principal of Jefferson School after
this school year, sources have told Maplewoodian.com
Caulfield-Sloan, who
is taking a position with the Wayne School District, was unavailable for comment. But those in the know say she will depart
as of July 30.
Jefferson, which is in a unique position, is a 3-5 grade
school, whose students first attend K-2 Marshall School.
Jefferson Co-PTA
President Kim A Vivenzio said the change could be good, noting, "The only constant is change, she has been with the school
for eight years, change is good. We will wish her the best, I think she is excited about her opportunities. With all good
things, having a change of guard will be positive."
The departure of
the principal comes as some parents have been discussing a change in the school's limited grade arrangement and connection
to Marshall, which has upset some at both schools whose children are often bused.
"I don't think this will have any effect on that," Vivenzio said. "It has more to do with her other
opportunities."
