The Township Committee gave initial approval to the idea of adding a special
fee for the municipal pool for single-parents with children.
"Everyone
agreed that it was a good idea," TC Member Jery Ryan said after Tuesday's meeting. "The pool advisory committee
is making a recommendation to the township committee about pool fees for 2010 and this will be included in their recommendation."
De Luca, who brought up the idea, said it makes it fairer for those families with
one income: "It really is not fair for a single parent to have to pay the
same rate as a two parent family. I have no set amount in mind. I just wanted to honor the request from the resident to see
what we can come up with."
No specific fee amounts were cited yet.
The TC discussed the issue during discussion items, but took no formal action. It still requires
approval from the pool committee and a formal adoption by the TC at a later date.
