CHRISTIE CUTS MORE THAN $2 MILLION IN AID TO SO-M SCHOOLS

THE GOVERNOR WHO VOWS TO CUT PROPERTY TAXES JUST CUT ENOUGH STATE AID TO ENSURE OURS WILL GO UP

Okay voters, anyone who voted for Chris Christie, congrats, he just invoked his power to cut the state budget via emergency needs. That means school aid has been reduced by $475 million statewide.

For the South Orange-Maplewood School District, state aid has been cut by $2.2 million, down to $6.3 million, according to The Star-Ledger. The rest will be made up from our $4.3 million surplus. But expect it to eventually hit property taxes.

As I reported earlier, our district gets only 8% of its revenue from the state, unlike most schools who get 41%. Thanks state, for nothing.
