Governor slams us where it hurts most in this overtaxed area
Gov. Jon Corzine's budget, as we thought, does little to dig into the real waste in state government, instead taking
away the desparately needed property tax rebates for those homes making more than $75,000 annually. That means many of us
here. Also, those property tax deductions on your N.J. income taxes? Gone. Higher taxes on those making $500,000
annually, too. And cigarettes and booze. See the bad news at NJ.com here What the governor could have done is really used his power to declare an emergency, as Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger did
in California. He could move to re-open contracts with state worker unions, like those once run by his old girlfriend, Carla
Katz. Can't do that, though, we need to cut funds sorely needed in this overly taxed state and add new taxes. Don't
buy this line that Trenton always sends. This state has so much waste and poor economic policies, that no tax increases would
be needed if it was simply run right. Remember, though, none of this can be implemented without our state legislators,
who are up for re-election, by the way. Call, e-mail and write them to complain. For Maplewood, in District 27, those
elected officials are as follows: Senator RICHARD J. CODEY - Democrat | District Office: 449
Mount Pleasant Ave., West Orange, NJ 07052 (973) 731-6770 | Assemblywoman
MILA M. JASEY - Democrat | District Office: 15
Village Plaza, Suite 1B, South Orange, NJ 07079 (973) 762-1886 | Assemblyman
JOHN F. MCKEON - Democrat | District Office: 4
Sloan St., Suite D & E, South Orange, NJ 07079 (973) 275-1113 Remember, they work for
you, so tell ‘em what you think. And how you'll vote if they pass this rip-off budget! |
